Our journeyman master carpenter recommended we go with oak for all the windowsills. The old sills were badly water damaged. The first two pics are the new sills in the living room. They’ll be varnished for enduring protection. They’re nine or 10 inches wide and will be able to be sat on once they are anchored.
The bottom shot is of the sill that will be laid down in the kitchen.
